Your Kitchen As A Battlefield

Did you ever think that your kitchen would be part of the front line battlefield? That your favorite kitchen knife would be a lethal weapon in your hands? You are a true kitchen ninja in cancer prevention.

According to the American Institute for Cancer Research, potential carcinogens can be defused. How? By including naturally occuring substances in our daily diets. We must eat more vegetables, fruits, and other plant foods. Plant foods contain nutrients and other natural phytochemicals which target deadly substances in our bodies. Once these substances are found, plant foods remove them from the body before they cause cellular damage that may lead to a cancer diagnosis. Also, plant foods assist our bodies to repair itself on the cellular level. Did you know that plant foods essentialy " starve " new cancer cells before they reproduce?

For cancer survivors like myself, these nutrients and phytochemicals have been proven to delay the progression of cancer from one stage to another. Plant foods give the body more time to naturally defend itself.

.Every day you can fight cancer by including my #1 favorite and delicious plant food in your diet. What is this number one cancer fighter? Garlic.

Garlic belongs to the family of phytochemicals, which are active health producing compounds in plants.Research studies have indicated that in cultures where the daily intake of garlic is high, cancer rates are relatively low.

That smell that you love to hate is the release of allicin, which is a potent cancer fighter. Your nose also gets a whiff of sulfur, which inhibits genetic mutation and renegade cancer cell growth.

Remember, allicin and sulfur is only released when your garlic is finely chopped, or crushed. Each day you enjoy garlic in your diet , you disable enzymes which promote the growth of infection. This is an immediate immune system booster! Plus antioxidant levels are increased in your body.

Garlic: The White Blood Cell Booster

Garlic is not just for vampires! It will also keep your immune system strong and is a natural antibiotic. Garlic also is loaded with selenium.Selenium is a proven cancer fighter and will give you an antioxidant boost! Selenium helps prevent cell damage and current research has discovered it may prevent certain cancers.

I take two cloves of garlic each day. Incorporating just two cloves a day in any way you like is easy. Don't like our smelly friend? Try this trick. Roast your garlic in the oven at 400 degrees for 15- 20 minutes. make sure that it does not burn. Roasting changes the texture and adds a nutty flavor you will love. Besides, roasted garlic is more palatable. And the burning sensation usually associated with eating garlic is eliminated.

Peel. Spread and enjoy this most delicious, creamy, and simple healthy concoction on your favorite whole wheat bread or cracker. Top with fresh parsley to eliminate " garlic breath " and remain kissable.

Try These Fantastic Garlic Recipes!

The best way to fight cancer with food is to have fun in the kitchen! Try these flavorful garlic recipes. They are fantastic for those who don't want to spend a lot of time in the kitchen. If you are a breast cancer survivor, you know that overcoming fatigue is often a daily battle.

All healthy garlic recipes listed below can be prepared in 30-60 minutes, including prep and cooking time. We do not have to give up our joy of cooking because we may be tired. I find preparing my own meals highly therapeutic. And knowing that I am including one of the top three cancer fighters in my daily diet is a plus!

My favorite is the combination of garlic with salmon. Salmon is an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids, a proven cancer fighter. Why not add asparagus to any ot these recipes and you will have another cancer preventing giant in your body. Asparagus is loaded with carotene as provitamin A, and Vitamin C. A proven knockout! Here's a tip: drizzle all of your vegetables with olive oil and roast in the oven along with your main dish. Who has the energy to lift all those pots and pans? Line all of your baking dishes with foil for easy cleanup, and ENJOY!

Now Try More Fantastic Garlic Recipes!

Garlic and Broccoli: A Cancer Fighter's Dynamic Duo

Who ever dreamed that fighting cancer fighting could be so quick, easy, and fun? Lots, and lots of garlic is exactly what you need in your kitchen arsenal. I can cook these dishes even on my REALLY fatigued days as a breast cancer survivor. I hope that you will enjoy these recipes. Use fresh shrimp, not frozen. I chose garlic as my favorite number one cancer fighter because of it's amazing versatility. BUT broccoli ran neck and neck with my vampire repelling friend.

Broccoli is a super cancer fighting vegetable. It is loaded with carotene and calcium, both proven cancer preventers. Can you eat one cup of broccoli? I bet you will. That one cup of this powerful antioxidant contains 2 1/2 times the Recommended Dietary Allowance of Vitamin C. Pair with garlic, and you have a true cancer prevention dynamic duo.

10 Minute Garlic Superfighter To Prevent Cancer

I don't know about you, but I love Thai cooking! How about you? Do you remember that I told you in the beginning that all of my favorite number one garlic cancer fighting foods could be prepared in 30-60 minutes? Surprise! Try this 10 minute garlic superfighter. Make sure you try all of these quick recipes.

Crazy about Chinese food? Me, too! Make sure you try the Garlic Chicken recipe. Another tasty cancer prevention dish that will make you smile.

We truly are what we eat. I now eat to live. Let's not only be cancer survivors, but cancer preventers through the happiness of cooking!

Is it safe to say that a Mediterranean diet is helpful with fighting and preventing cancer? I switch to a Mediterranean diet a few months ago and I love foods with garlic, herbs and fresh vegetables. I just wish that I didn't smell like garlic at times. When I exercise I smell like a clove of garlic lol.....

You are a great role model. Keep up the good work. I see you are also interested in phytonutrients. It's funny but 30 years ago, when I started my nutrition research there was no mention of phytonutrients. Frances Bleuet

Grrrreeeeaaaattt article pinkboxer! I love garlic - the taste and the smell! I don't even need a recipe - I'd put garlic on a rock if I could digest it! :)

My parents used to swear by garlic tablets and as a vegetarian I definitely believe in all things natural.

Thank you!

What an excellent article. Thank you for all the good information. Do you know if there has been research done that proves that garlic is effective even when cooked -- or baked for 20 minutes in the oven? That would be great if it is because the few times I've eaten a clove of raw garlic, my husband makes such a fuss about it that I don't do it for another three months.

Garlic contains: Apigenin and Sulforaphan. Apigenin in some cases helps unlocking very important gene DLC1, which us responsible for the natural cell death and thus removes possibility pf cancer cell imortality. Sulforaphan hekps to reexpress this gene ceeping DNA backbone acethylated. These to wariors are reakky doing greta job in cancer DLC1 hypermethylated but not broken gene cases (nore than 50 percent I hope)

One more problem - Women understand salad much better than men! Too high level of Apigenin in blood may be could be dangerous. Too low too. Sorry and THANKS.

Urba, this is awesome! I challenge you to expand your first hub with this information for all readers. As for the salad with the ingredients you listed,I am not a chef, but maybe another hubber is. Anyone out there familiar with all these Apigenin vegetables and willing to create a salad? Great fun we are having with this hub.

JUST SCIENCE - Apigenin when studying tropic food was found only in Chinese cabbage (187.0 mg/kg), bell pepper (272.0 mg/kg), GARLIC (217.0 mg/kg), belimbi fruit (458.0 mg/kg), French peas (176.0 mg/kg), snake gourd (42.4 mg/kg), guava (579.0 mg/kg), wolfberry leaves (547.0 mg/kg), local celery (338.5 mg/kg), daun turi (39.5 mg/kg), and kadok (34.5 mg/kg), Peppers, hot chili, green (14.0 mg/kg)... parsley is rich of Apigenin too. Is it possible to make some good taste salad using these rich of Apigenin vegetables which seems to be useful not only for the brest cancer treatment-prevention and not only for prevention of cancer?

Garlic contains some Apigenine too. APIGENIN is natural flavonoid found in some vegetables and herbs: paprika, guama, parsial, green tea... It was revealed recently, that ir could reexpress very important gene DLC1 in breast cancer cell in many cases like in some other cancers.... (more - in my Hub)
